Google donates $1 million to the African Institute of Maths and Science
In 2008, Neil Turok won the TEDPrize. His wish:Help us unlock and nurture scientific talent across Africa, so that within our lifetime we can celebrate an African Einstein. The African Institute of Maths and Science(AIMS) that Neil Turok founded, would be the vehicle to achieve this.
Last week at the TED2010 conference , Daphney Singo a South African studying for her PhD in nuclrear physics at AIMS, told delegates that her mother once said to her: Education is the husband who will never leave you. Daphney got a standing ovation and following her speech, Google donated $1 million to AIMS.
